Standard U.S. Frame Sizes         

Photographs, paintings on canvas and other forms of art usually are sized according to U.S. Standard sized frame dimensions.  This makes ordering and installation quite easy for both do-it-yourself decorators and the professional framers.      

To determine the correct frame size and to ensure proper fit measure the overall dimensions horizontal and vertical        (w x h) of the work to be framed. If mat board is used, and if the matting is equal to or larger than the art work or object to be framed, make sure to measure the overall width and height of the matboard and not the art itself. Please note that all frames are sized to accomodate the artwork with 1/8" extra allowance. This means that there is no need to account for the extra fitting space; measure only the dimensions of the items to be framed as described above in order to get a proper fitting.
